A lifesaving defibrillator has been purchased at Ashby Castle Day Nursery.
The device, which delivers an electric current to restart the heart, can be used on children in an emergency.
An estimated 270 children in the UK die every year from sudden cardiac arrest. If CPR is performed and a defibrillator is used in the first 5 minutes the chance of survival jumps from 6% to 74%.
As well as this vital piece of life saving equipment the nursery has also achieved the prestigiousMillies Mark award which ensures every staff member is fully training in Paediatric First Aid including how to use a defibrillator.
We understand the importance of teaching the children about sustainability, and the importance of taking care of our planet.
Everyday, our Special Helpers become 'Eco Warriors'. These children help to collect recycling from the classrooms, which is then taken and sorted into our different recycling bins.
A fabulous week at Ashby Castle Day Nursery
The nursery has had a full week concentrating on favourite stories. This has been hugely successful with the children learning new vocabulary. Nicola, our expert storyteller was dressed up as well known characters and the children loved it!
Enhancing vocabulary is so important in the preparation for learning to read and to foster, early in life, a love of books.
